I am often asked for spelling recommendations. Many of the good spelling programs have been discontinued. There really is no 'truly' fun way to drill something. It takes repetition, which can often be boring for kids. My kids have fallen in love with these new computerized toys. They take them to bed with them, and in the car. I am amazed that they are actually willing to practice math drills and spelling words without much prompting!

Twist the left side of the toy to select one of four different spelling games. One of the 'games' simply spells words for your kids, helping them get used to the spelling. This is a great feature for auditory learners!

Turbo Spelling is very low stress for kids who are struggling. It is also great for kids who need to keep their bodies involved in the learning process. The quiz modes vary from straight out spelling tests, to fill in the blank or listening to cool rap-songs that teach spelling rules.

If you purchase the Turbo Link, you can hook the toy up to your computer and download more spelling words. I have heard from a few parents that this is not extremely easy for the computer novice, but worth the effort. The toy comes with more than 400 words pre-programmed, so my own kids have not reached the point of needing more.

If you kids are in public school it is possible to program their spelling lists from school each week. This has been a great boon to us, as we struggle with teaching spelling at home.

My own kids would much rather use the Turbo Twist than any computer spelling game we have for the computer. I still utilize computer spelling programs for more thorough teaching, but this is a fun way to drill words, and work on speed.
