Teletubbies 2: Favorite Games
If you have not seen the Teletubbies show, you are missing out on quite a phenomenon! This show is a big hit with preschoolers. Four little characters resembling soft dolls treat your preschooler to a half hour of entertainment just for kids their age. They each have small television screens on their tummies, where movies are shown. Every activity is done several times, as most kids this age like things "again and again." Teletubbies 2 is best for children ages 1-4 (four being the VERY upper end!).
The Teletubbies computer program is great for the smallest member of your family. Do not, however, purchase this for a hyperactive child! This one runs even slower than the television show. I had a three year old here playing with it who does not watch televlsion. She became very impatient with these silly guys who seemed to take their time doing everything! She quickly moved on to something else. This program is, therefore, particularly good for a child who already likes Teletubbies. I also watched a four year old play this game for several hours. He is a big Teletubbies fan and loved the program. His parents told me that he tends to enjoy programs where there is not a lot of structure, and he can 'wander around a lot.' If your child fits this description, he or she will probably enjoy this one.
Five activities are included, each
hosted by the Po, Tinky Winky, La La and Dipsy. The vacuum and smiling baby
sun make special apperances as well.
Hide and Peep: Your child clicks on a Teletubby, who then hides behind a curtain. Once three of them are hidden, the fourth must go and find them. Here your kids really need to know the Teletubbies names (or learn them quickly). There are no real 'instructions' anywhere in this program. Your mouse cursor changes colors and you need to guess at what you are to do. Granted, the plot is not too difficult.
Making Tubby Custard: Tubby Custard is their favorite treat. Your kids will help them fix a snack, by pushing four different buttons. If these are done in the correct order, each Teletubby gets a bowl of custard. If not, the custard plops on the counter.
Roly-Poly: Guide each Teletubby as it rolls down a grassy hill. Sometimes they stop to look at interesting things along the way.
Gymnastics: Six icons at the bottom of the screen correspond to six 'dances' the Teletubbies like to do. By pushing them in any order, your child can create an 'exercise routine' for the Teletubbies.
Tuning In: Here your preschooler can watch special Teletubby movies just like on TV. The movies included are: How Fish Swim, Carnival, Washing the Car, Sophie's Art Circus, and Playing with Dough. After watching the movie, each has a small game your child can play. For example, after watching the fish video, your child can place fish in a virtual aquarium. This was the favorite spot of the Teletubbies fan mentioned earlier.
While very active preschoolers will find the pace of this program painfully slow, Teletubby fans will enjoy interacting with their favorite television charachters. Tubby fans, and quieter preschoolers will absolutely love this one. More active kids may find this one akin to Mr. Rogers on tranquilizers.
