If you want someone to hold your hand, and walk you through each step on your higher mathematics learning adventure, this program is not it! If, on the other hand, you need some added resources, are willing to put a little time into it, and are self-motivated, this program can be a powerful tool. In other words, don't hand this program to a kid who is already struggling with high school math and ready to pull his hair out.

Studyworks comes in three forms, Studyworks Science, Studyworks Mathematics, and Studyworks Mathematics Deluxe. Each will help your child access all of the important formulas, put together great looking lab reports and homework, and help them with the really tough stuff. Advanced math and science students, who are willing to wade through the clumsy interface, will find a wealth of information.

Studyworks Science covers:

Studyworks Mathematics covers:

• Algebra I
• Algebra II
• Geometry
• Trigonometry
• Precalculus
• Calculus
• Statistics
• Business Math
• SAT II (Deluxe version only)
• Pre Algebra (Deluxe version only)

These programs do not walk you through the process step by step. Rather, you can look up any formulas you like, plug in numbers, animate special formulas, and create great looking graphs. Explanations are available for any subject you can imagine. The Collaboratory allows you access to teachers, and other students, on the Studyworks web site. My son was struggling with a problem, and received a well thought out answer to his problem within an hour!

The main problem with this program is the clumsy interface. When you are accessing the web site, returning to where you were is next to impossible. It takes hours to figure out just what everything is, and how this program can benefit you. Many kids will not bother, it's just too much work. While this version is easier than the last, there needs to be more hand holding through the tutorial. The tutorial gives you the basics, but then drops you into the program to 'figure it out for yourself.'

This is a great resource program for your child if he, or she, is self-motivated and is starting into the more advanced study of mathematics and science. Do not purchase this program for serious remediation.
