Rabbit's Thinking Adventures 4-6
The Reader Rabbit series continues to grow with this newest addition.
Thinking Adventures is specifically designed for children ages 4-6. We found
that the level three activities are great for slightly older kids as well, or
for remediation needs. With the new A.D.A.P.T technology (available on all
new Reader Rabbit products) your child will have a program which is
specifically designed to meet his or her learning needs. You can even use the
included Personalized Learning Center to track progress throughout all Reader
Rabbit and Clue Finder programs.
It is Sam the lion's
birthday, and his friends are planning a surprise party for him. Reader Rabbit
has assigned each of the friends one part of the party preparation. Your child
will travel to each friends' house helping with those preparations. A
pre-assessment test can be taken if desired. Skill levels are adjusted
automatically, but can also be adjusted manually.
- Bab's Kitchen: Here
your child will help decorate cookies, and fill treat bags. Decorating cookies
at level one it quite easy. Simply match the pattern. By level
three, however, your child must match four decorations which must be placed on
the cookie in the correct order. We found this third level challenging, but a
lot of fun. My kids were excited when they could finally 'crack the
code.' Party bags are laid out in a coordinate
grid pattern. At level one your child will learn how to graph objects
based on two characteristics. At level three, the characteristics are left out,
and your child must discover the pattern. These are both wonderful
brain-building activities.

- Pierre's Studio: In
Pierre's Studio your children will help finish wrapping paper. Pierre has
started painting the paper, but needs help finishing the pattern
on each. In a banner building activity your children will make cards, while
learning to recognize differences. By level three there are
several differences which don't follow a set pattern.
- Papa Bear's store:
My eleven year old enjoyed the Venn diagram activity here. Granted, she
is too old, but the practice was fun for her. Hoola Hoops create Venn
diagrams which must be filled with toys from the shelves. Your child
will have to decide which characteristic or characteristics are included in
each toy. Level three will take some thinking on the part of most 4-6 year
olds. This is a great one for more advanced kindergarten kids. Here you must
also wrap presents so that they match. At level three you can
wrap them anyway you like. You have several box shapes, wrapping papers, bows
and tags to select.
- Owl's Tree House:
Two activities here will help your child's thinking skills. Mattie the mouse is
choreographing dance steps for the party. Her friends often get confused and
can't recall the next step. This is a nice twist on the standard
patterning activity. A great directional game allows your child
to develop map reading skills, and directional abilities. Mattie is
blindfolded, but must find a donkey on a grid. There are obstacles in her way
which your child must negotiate. Your child will tell Mattie which direction to
travel, and how many steps to take.
This is a great program for kids who do not
want the typical academic fare, or for those kindergartners who are a bit more
advanced. They will be challenged at level three! This is a nice addition to
the Reader Rabbit lineup.
