If you are planning to travel to a foreign country, you need to learn language skills quickly. There may be no time for months of study. The new Quick Study series is your best choice for down-and-dirty quick langauge aquisition.

Quick Study utilizes a four-step learning process:

• Build Vocabulary
• Improve Comprehension
• Reinforce Understanding
• Start Talking

This program includes eight basic vocabulary areas which most foreign travelers will need to cover in order to feel comfortable. These include:

• People
• Daily life
• Getting around
• Eating out
• Shopping
• Unexpected events (emergencies, dr. visits etc.)
• Traveling Going abroad (several cultural videos are included)

The program contains a mixture of animations and real life video clips. The program quality in general is surprisingly good. You are first introduced to key words and phrases. If you have a microphone, you can test out your speech throughout the program. A microphone is highly recommended.

Once you are familiar with the key words, you are shown a video clip, which includes a conversation utilizing your new words. You are then asked questions based on this video clip and your understanding of the words you have just learned. Rather than a deep study of the language, this is all happens rather quickly.Testers picked up new words and phrases quicker than expected using this method.

Game Room just for fun includes:

• Video Match- match one half of a conversation with the second half in concentration style
• Conquest- A board game involving matching pictures and phrases (multi-player or against the computer)
• Songs- Here several songs from the culture you are studying

Testers found this program very good for those who want to learn as much as possible, as quickly as they can. This is a good language program, but not your first choice for long term, in-depth study.
