Puzz 3D
I have often looked at the 3D puzzles available in the store, and wanted to purchase one for my son. Then I realize that I would have to put it somewhere when he was done! If you have ever wanted to try your hand at one of these unique puzzles, this is your chance. These are not for the puzzle-phobic, however.
Puzz 3D puzzles are available with models of Notre Dame Cathedral, Richmond Mansion and Neuschwanstein Castle. Each can be purchased on a seperate CD. These are far more than just 3D puzzles. Once you complete certain sections, you are granted access to various parts of your creation. You will learn about the building, it's inhabitants and find a few surprises along the way.
As you explore your creations, you will meet people (video clips) who will help you learn more about the mysteries and romance surrounding each of these famous buildings. In Neuschwanstein you will learn about King Ludwig's romantic visions for a wonderful chapel. In the Richmond Mansion you will have to solve a murder mystery. These make the programs much more than just 'another puzzle program.' We were extremely impressed with the depth of the programs. There are problem solving puzzles and games hidden throughout the buildings as well.
Although these 'extras' are
wonderful, you must like to do puzzles in order to enjoy these programs. The
puzzle area is well thought out. You can view your pieces from various angles,
rotate them, and sort them as you build your creation. At the easiest levels
you are given quite a bit of help. It is still difficult, however, and not
recommended for young children who are not puzzle experts. 
As you complete sections of your puzzle, you will find that your work area always stays uncluttered. You take your sections to a construction table and start to put them together on a grid. As you progress, these grids and 'helpers' will be removed. There are four skill levels, each with their own reward.
- 250 pieces (explore a few areas of your building)
- 430 pieces (a bit tougher, but still a lot of help here)
- 620 pieces (pieces must now be rotated, and you only had a wireframe as a building guideline)
- 835 pieces (no guidance here, but if you complete it you have full access to the inside of your building and all of the surprises that go along with 'winning.')
This is a great program if you love puzzles. No mess, and no dusty pieces sitting around for weeks. Best yet, you don't have to find a place to put your new 3D puzzle!
