Great Adventures by Fisher-Price Pirate Ship-
As part of the new Fisher-Price software programs, your child can now explore he high seas. "Pirate Ship" does not match the educational level of "Learning In Toyland," but if you have a pirate fanatic in the four to eight year range, they will enjoy this program.
I would only recommend this particular Fisher-Price program to a child who is thrilled by pirates and pirate life. If there is no real draw to the "pirate-scene" this program will probably not get the replay value you are looking for. "Learning In Toyland" was a much more engaging program.
Here your child will meet pirates and join in typical piratr activities like searching for buried treasure, shooting canons and taking care of the ship. I did question shooting dogs, chickens and mice out of the cannon...even if it was in fun.
Your child will be able to design his or her own pirate flag and a ship in a bottle. These can be printed out and colored later.
Join the pirate crew below deck and sing a few pirate songs.
As your child progresses throughout the program, he will be prompted to look for missing map pieces. The ultimate hope of any pirate is to find the buried treasure!
Most of the games lost their appeal very quickly. Even my five year old who spent the summer pretending to be a pirate lost interest in this program rather quickly. The music and atmosphere is there to grab any pirate loving child, but I did not feel the content was there to keep them coming back again and again.
If you have a young child who loves pirates you may want to take a look at "Pirate Ship" but personally I would opt for one of the other Fisher-Price programs and go look for a good pirate book or movie instead.
