If you are looking for another one of those can't eat, can't sleep, play 'till you drop sort of games, look no further. Shoot, even the installation portion is pretty cool! For fans of role-playing games and action games, this one is a must buy. Its gameplay can be compared to Diablo or Zelda. It is rated teen due to the animated violence and blood. Not much in the way of blood and gore, but lots of sword fights, battling and death by magic spell.
This game catches your imagination from the very first moment. Very neat mouse trails (looking something like magic wand sparkles) let you know that this is a magical game. It seems that the world of Nox has long been protected by three groups of people, the Warriors, Conjurers and Wizards. Hecubah, the last surviving Necromancer, has decided it is time to take over Nox. There is quite a bit of fun humor throughout this program. It doesn't take itself too seriously.
You can choose to play Nox as a Warrior, Conjurer or Wizard. While you travel the same pathways, the story plays out a bit differently depending on your point of view. You must always ultimately deal with Hecubah, however. You will be sent on missions to retrieve various items, save maidens, or conquer bothersome urchins. There are many levels, with rather difficult bosses. This one is great for either the experience gamer, or the novice.
The thing you will notice right from the beginning is the innovative 'line of site' this game uses. As your character moves around, various rooms and hallways open up to his vision. Although you are not 'looking through his eyes,' you can see things from his perspective.
The multiplayer angle is a bit different, but lots of fun. Several games can be played over the Internet or a network. These are mainly variations on Capture the Flag, or 'fight to the death' type matches. They are highly addictive, and lots of fun.
Nox is a wonderful choice for anyone in your family who can handle the teen rating. You are guaranteed to loose a lot of sleep over this one!
Bottom Line: A superb role-playing/adventure game that is great for both novices and experienced gamers alike. You won't be able to drag yourself away from this one!
