Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned for Danger

The second installment in the Nancy Drew series is even more captivating than the first. These programs are great for pre-teen, and teenaged girls, who want a program written specifically for them. The Her Interactive programs are designed for girls, but do not pander to the bubble-gum, worry about boys crowd. These are solid programs.

Stay Tuned for Danger finds Nancy on the set of "Love of our Life." Rick, one of the male leads, has been getting death threats. His co-star, Mattie Jensen has called Nancy in on the case. Is she involved? Sometimes it looks like it. You will need to work your way through the entire mystery before you know the right answer, however.

You can wander through Mattie's house looking for clues, or visit the production studio. While you are there, Rick is almost killed. Nancy overhears conversations, finds clues on people's desks and more, as she works her way through the studio. Occasionally there are people to talk to. Multiple conversation paths are presented at the bottom of the screen. At first, I didn't notice the fancy scrollbar, and did not realize there were several choices for Nancy's response. Make sure your kids find the scrollbar.

In each room, you can look around, using your detective magnifying glass. If there is anything to look at, the glass turns red. Sometimes what you are looking at is very important, and sometimes only interesting. It will be up to you to decide which clues are most important.

Three skill levels make this program one that will challenge your girls no matter what their level of expertise on the computer. At the beginning level, Junior Detective, the clues are still hard enough to challenge most pre-teen girls.

Your girls will enjoy this program. I know many girls who want a challenge, but are getting tired of all the shooting and violence they have to put up with for a real challenge. This program will keep them working, but not expose them to the violent world of computer gaming.
