Missle Command

1999 has been the year of the retro-game. Releases of all your old favorites have hit the market. You will find Pong, Q-bert, Tetris, and many more. Missile Command was an extremely popular arcade game in the 80's. This new version brings back the addictive quality of the original, plus adds some 90's twists.

This new version allows you to play in three ways, Classic Missile Command, Ultimate Missile Command and Multi-play over a LAN or the Internet.

Classic Missile Command is just as you remember it from your arcade days. Using the mouse to maneuver your targeting device, shoot from three defense turrets by using the A, S and D keys. Missiles start coming in fast and furious. Three skill levels make this one easy for kids as young as eight. Upper levels will leave any decent gamer in a dither. The longer you play, the harder it gets. The sound and graphics have been cleaned up, but the game is basically identical.

Ultimate Missile Command brings you new 3D worlds which must be defended. New weapons, new enemies, and missions bring this game a breath of fresh air. The basic gameplay remains the same, but your objectives are a bit more complex. There is now a reason for shooting down these aliens! You will be sent to hot spots around the world defending Earth from alien attack.

Multi-play allows you to play against your friends on the Internet, or on a home network. You will need two copies of the program to play over a home network.

There is nothing terribly complex here. This one won't raise your SAT scores. It will keep you and your kids glued to the computer. Testers found they became easily addicted when they thought they were long past 'game addictions.'

Bottom Line: A great update to a familiar 80's arcade game. Addictive gameplay that is easy to learn but hard to master.
