Little Bear is having a "Just Because" party. He sets off to invite his friends, pick berries for a pie, and get a surprise from Grandmother Bear. The feel of this program is very peaceful. Characters are extremely polite and respectful to one another. Activities are carefully incorporated into the story line.

Each activity has three skill levels, which can be adjusted manually, or will adjust automatically for your child.

 

Drawing: Draw in Little Bear's nature notebook. While nothing special, the idea of a nature notebook wonderful!

Vegetable Soup: Mother Bear will make vegetable soup for the party, if your child finds the vegetables based on clues given. If not finished, they will have only 'pretend soup.'

Berry Picking: Little Bear must look for berries throughout the adventure. If not enough berries are picked along the way, the pie will be rather meager for the party. A separate activity has your child catching falling berries in a bucket.

Hide and Seek Ducks: At level one, your child will simply look for the ducks in the pond. By level three, they must remember where they are hiding, with no visual clues (i.e. Tails sticking out).

Caterpillar Matching: Your child must find all of the caterpillars that match. At level one they are simple colors. By level they have multi-colored patterns.

Cricket Music: This activity is spectacular! Your child must listen to crickets, and find two with matching musical patterns. The patterns are rather subtle, even at level one.

Party Hats: Decorate and print party hats for the upcoming party.

A second CD includes 25 printable activities which can be done away from the computer. Testers found that their two CD's were mislabeled, so watch out.

While not as good as Little Bear's Kindergarten Thinking Adventure, this is a great program which is a welcome addition to the preschool market.

Bottom Line: A wonderful choice for preschoolers who need to develop critical thinking skills. A peaceful feeling throughout with great activities!
