Lego kits can be rather expensive. If your kids love to build with Legos, this new computer program will give them unlimited Lego bricks, and more extras than most families could ever afford! The drawback is that your child must be patient while learning how to use the many controls. You will also be giving up the value of handling the Legos first hand. Middle and upper elementary aged Lego fans will enjoy the many options here.

Building your Lego World

Here your child will be able to create a customized world using:

• Unlimited Lego bricks
• Color palettes for creating just the right look
• Approximately one dozen backgrounds
• Pre-made kits for constructing more complex items

Playing with your Lego World

Once your child has created the perfect world, it is time to play. Here your child will find:

• Destructa blocks for creatively blowing up anything in sight
• Various camera views, including a great 'jump in the skin of a Lego character' mode which lets your child look at things from street level
• Printable instructions compatible with real Lego kits, and real Lego kit instructions compatible with computer program
• Motorized vehicles and moving people which bring each world to life

Strengths and Weaknesses

There are enough options here to keep most kids busy for a very long time. The controls need to be labeled better, and the graphics need to be sharpened a bit. Legos often looked like blobs. Younger Lego fans in the 5-8 range may find this program a bit daunting. Testers also found load times rather slow. The compatibility between real Legos and this program was great. This will encourage your children to use the computer, and encourage away from the computer activity. Much cheaper than buying all of these Legos!

Bottom Line: This program will be a hit with serious Lego fans. Kids who do not enjoy Legos in real life, or those just mastering the computer will not enjoy this program.
