Jump Start Numbers

While not a thorough as other Jump Start programs, this new program is good for kids who just want a little fun while practicing computational skills. This is not as fast-paced as the Blaster programs, but is in the same 'arcade game' category. The program covers basic numeric and computational skills from preschool through third grade.

Frankie (the dog who appears in many Jump Start programs) has eaten all of the bones in his secret underground vault. While he sleeps off his huge feast, your child must help him earn bones to refill his vault. In order to do this, 100 bones must be earned by playing three arcade style games. The skill level is chosen when you sign in, but can also be adjusted from within the games themselves.

Wild West Game:

Here Frankie must shoot down numbers and answers which appear from the western town windows. Some times the criterion is 'numbers smaller than a given number,' sometimes they are computational problems. The skill depends on the selected skill level. The aiming takes no skill at all, simply point and click.

Space Adventure:

Several space ships at the top of the screen must be filled with numbers. Each holds a different number, and Frankie must fly around the sky finding numbers that add up to the given answer. A bit faster paced game than the others. Pirate Adventure:

Frankie must travel around the pirate's island, looking for numbers to complete numeric sequences. This is not an arcade type game like the others.

None of the games here are anything extraordinary. You won't find innovative math theory, or hands-on activities. This program simply includes a few fun games at a cheap price.
