Specializing in educational software reviews |
I have been homeschooling my three children, Josiah (18), Alyssa (14) and Chase (11) since day one. Before that I was a special education and elementary education teacher. Much of my time was spent doing research in the field of reading and IQ development. While I loved my time in the classroom, I wanted to spend more time with my own children, so we opted for homeschooling. It has been a wonderful adventure for us. We live on five acres, and dream of the day when it will be the small hobby farm we have always envisioned. Most of our recreational time lately has been spent enjoying our boat at Lake Powell, and any other body of water we can get close to. This summer I have been certifying as an EMT, which has taken up much of my time. I continue to get reviews in here just as frequently as I can.
LearningWare Reviews began in the early days of educational computing when floppy disks really were floppy, and you really DID need to understand DOS. For the past decade I have been writing reviews, articles, consulting, and giving seminars on selecting quality software for families. It is so easy to waste money on software that does not fit the needs of your family. It is my goal to help you save as much money as possible, and select only the best programs for your particular family. I am very careful to let parents know of anything that might be objectionable, while leaving the ultimate judgement and decision as to what is 'objectionable' to the individual family. You will not find judgemental statements here, but enough information to make your own judgement.
My column has appeared in many newsletters, and parenting publications around the country. I worked for KBkids.com as a software expert for more than three years. In the past, I have been a columnist for Home Education Magazine, and a forum host for America On-line's popular homeschooling forum. Currently I continue to speak at homeschooling and parenting seminars whenever I can fit it in. I love talking to parents about their computing experiences!
