Fans of the Might and Magic programs will be pleased with this new installment in the popular series. Those who have enjoyed Final Fantasy, Ultima, or Age of Empires are sure to like this program.

Heroes of Might and Magic is heavily laden with mythical creatures such as griffins and minotaurs, not to mention wizards, dungeons, and other fantasy related objects. Teens, who enjoy Tolkein books, or other fantasy-based novels, will also enjoy the incorporation of their favorite subjects into a great turn based strategy game.

The basic plot involves Erathia, which has been destroyed by the Dungeon Overlords. The King has been murdered, and resurrected as an "undead warlord." His daughter Catherine, Queen of Enroth, returns to restore the family's rightful reign of the land.

You can play small single scenarios, or try your hand at one of several longer campaigns. There are approximately 40 single campaigns, plus a scenario editor, which allows you to create your own. In either case, you are given a storyline, and a goal to accomplish. This is a turn-based game, meaning that you can play against computerize opponents, or friends over the Internet or a network.

You are responsible for hiring heroes, waging war, and taking care of your towns and citizens. You will have at your disposal more than 100 heroes, each with his or her own special strengths and weaknesses. You will want to use your mightiest heroes at the battlefront.

This program has been rated "everyone," but does contain battle scenes. These are not gory, or objectionable, but parents will want to know that battle is an intricate part of this program.

Heroes of Might and Magic III is a great choice the people in your house who just can't get enough of fantasy in all it's forms. A new expansion pack called Heroes of Might and Magic: Armageddon's Blade is also available.

Bottom Line: A great fantasy-based strategy game that your family will enjoy.
