Arthur's Kindergarten
Arthur's tree house has been blown down in a terrible storm. All of his friends are committed to help him rebuild it, but they will need items from the adults in their town. In order to get these items, they must help them out with chores. This shows a group of kids who are willing to work for something they really want.
Arthur's Kindergarten includes three skill levels. Characters suggest a change if your child is doing well. This program is best for early and average kindergarteners.
Picture Windows: This is one of the best activities. Help put pictures in the correct order to tell a story.
Ice Cream Inventions: This letter recognition activity includes some basic phonics, but only in the form of beginning letter sounds. The letter sounds are not taught in isolation here.
Where'd It Go?: Arthur guides your child in this map reading and direction activity. They will learn left and right while guiding Arthur around town.
Junk Sculpture: In the junkyard, your child must find items to build a 'word sculpture.' At level one they are simply looking for these items. By level three they are hearing clues which will tell them which item is needed.
Brain's Dad's Spare Parts: This shape maze can be played by one or two players. Direct your player to the correct shape in order to cross the maze of crates. At level three your child must identify shapes which have three characteristics.
Grandma Thora's Garden: A simple math game, which teaches your children simple computation procedures. This is also a one or two player game.
Fact or Fiction: Help sort books by category. While the words "fact or fiction" are not the best words to use here, kids will get the idea. You can not, for example know if a book about a dog who barks at a cat is really fact or fiction with only that information.
While perhaps not the most thorough Kindergarten package, Arthur guides your child through some good learning activities. This program is much better than the programs that originally were marketed with the Talk With Me Arthur Doll.
Bottom Line: A fun program for Arthur fans, but perhaps not the first choice in Kindergarten programs. Best for younger kindergarteners.
