Putt Putt Enters the Race

For those who have been around computers for a few years, Putt Putt and his friends will be quite familiar. The original Putt Putt program, Putt Putt Joins the Parade, was a smash hit years ago. Recent Putt Putt programs have been extremely well done, but this new program takes you back to the Humoungous roots. This will be a trip into nostalgia-land for anyone familiar with this cute purple car!

Putt Putt Enters the Race plays, looks, feels and smells like the original program....OK, so maybe that's dinner cooking I smell. My seven year old latched on to this one immediately, and has been playing for days. Oddly enough, it has motivated my two youngest to pull out programs which have not been looked at in years! This program may beef up the replay value of everything on your shelf!

Putt Putt and his little dog Pep have just been invited to enter a speedway racing event. In order to participate, Putt Putt is given a list of items he must find before he can enter the race. As he travels through the town (almost identical to the original) he will talk to neighbors, find items, and earn money. Things like the car wash need coins which must be earned by doing odd jobs for folks like Mr. Baldini the grocer.

This program is wonderful for beginning computer enthusiasts! I have known more than one or two children who were introduced to the computer through Putt Putt and learned basic mouse skills with the help of his friends. This is a simple program, which even the youngest three year olds can use. It also requires enough listening and concentration to keep younger elementary aged children happy. There is no violence, no frenetic action, nothing that a parent would find objectionable here.

Your new computer will love the enhanced graphics and sound, and your nostalgic side will enjoy seeing this fun purple car in his old home town. If you were not around during the early days of Putt Putt, this is a must buy....if for no other reason than you can say you own a Putt Putt program. You will not find as much new material here as in other programs like Putt Putt Travels through Time, but the familiarity was actually a breath of fresh air. Besides, my new computer would have laughed at the old floppies.
