The Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay promised in February that the Colts would sign star quarterback Andrew Luck with a huge contract. That is the result why we are not so shocked about the Colts signed Andrew Luck with a six-year, worth $140 million deal.
The new contract is worth $140 million over six years, with $87 million guaranteed and $23.3 million average annual salaries. The deal makes Andrew Luck become the highest-earning player in NFL history.
Though Luck has just spent a season with injuries and admitted his bad performance even before the injuries. Colts are wise to sign Luck because we all believe that the ace quarterback is the most valuable player.
“I am thrilled and excited to continue with this great organization,” said Luck in a statement. “I am thankful to the Irsay family and Mr. Irsay for providing me with this great opportunity and the trust that they’ve shown in me. I can’t wait for this season to start.”
The Colts surely believe that down year was an aberration and that when healthy, and when given better help around him, Luck will continue his ascension into the upper echelon of NFL players. Luck led the Colts to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons, including a trip to the AFC Championship Game in 2014, where the Colts lost to the New England Patriots.
