31 Languages of the World

Not sure which language you want to learn? Here is your answer! 31 Languages of the World contains a rather complete study of 31 different languages from Hungarian to Tagalog. The list is quite impressive.

This is not a cursory study of the language either. The tutorials cover everything from vocabulary, to conversations, grammar and spelling. As an extra, you will find a 30 language word processor and a 10-city travel tour CD.

The emphasis here is on conversational speech. Although you can study vocabulary independently, the main portion of the program involves learning how to speak in full sentences. You can turn on or off the English clues at the bottom of the screen. You also have the opportunity to record yourself as one of the characters within the dialogue.

Several games are available to help you brush up on your language skills. In one game you must complete crossword puzzles which will improve your spelling and vocabulary knowledge. Plug and Play is a fill-in-the-blank activities which helps improve your knowledge of sentence structure. The same skills are utilized which playing Unscramble, which finds you putting sentences in the correct order. Vocabulous is another fill-in-the-blank activity. While none of these are arcade style games, and are generally workbook style activities, they are a great addition to the program.

While this program may not have all the glitz and glamour of some other language programs, it does contain video clips and native speakers. This is a full-featured language program. The addition of 31 languages, makes it all that much more valuable. You may need to move to a more in-depth program at some point, but only if your language study becomes a serious venture.
